Joe Ferretti has been representing individuals in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia since co-founding the firm of Hammer Ferretti & Schiavoni along with his two partners in 1992. He has spent the last 30 years committed to providing professional, personable service while obtaining results for his clients. Over this time he has successfully litigated or settled cases for numerous clients with claims arising from auto accidents, pedestrian and cycling accidents, faulty home construction, medical malpractice and a variety of injury and death claims. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 1984 with a B.A. in both Economics and Political Science and the University of Pittsburgh School Of Law in 1987 with a law degree he began his legal career as an associate with a large West Virginia insurance defense firm. During his years there he litigated numerous cases as defense counsel in motor vehicle accidents and medical malpractice cases. This experience has proved to be very valuable to his clients as insight to the defense strategies used against clients he now serves.
Through trial work and successful mediations, arbitrations and settlement negotiations Mr. Ferretti and his firm have obtained verdicts, awards and compensation for clients that now exceed $150 million dollars. While past success in any case is not indicative of the kind of results to be expected in future legal matters he and his partners have the education, training and experience to accurately assess the chances of success in your case and offer their evaluations free of charge during the initial consultation.
Mr. Ferretti is a member of and has served the following professional organizations, Eastern Panhandle Bar Association, West Virginia Bar Association, West Virginia Association for Justice, and the American Association for Justice. He has also been an active member of the community serving on the board of several organizations and civic groups, including Berkeley Senior Services Board of Directors, Tuscarora Ruritan Club and past service to the St. Joseph’s School Board and to St. Joseph’s Parish Pastoral Council.
Joe enjoys radio broadcasting and has been heard over the airwaves for many years on local stations serving as a co-host of morning talk show programs and interviewing guests, providing color commentary for high school football games and discussing numerous issues of local interest. He enjoys hunting, fly fishing and golf in his spare time. He raised three daughters in the Martinsburg community and continues to reside there with his wife, Penny and beloved bird dog Laci.
